Black Lesbian Archives

Black Lesbian Archives was founded in 2017 in order to properly conserve and preserve Black Lesbian history. The archives also work to build community and educate Black Lesbians and allies on Black Lesbian history through mediums such as articles, posters, flyers, mixtapes, videos, photos, audio, publications, and poetry from the Black Lesbian community.

Old Lesbians Organizing for Change

Old Lesbians Organizing for Change is a national network of old lesbians over the age of 60 working to confront ageism in the lesbian community. Old Lesbians Organizing for Change allows old lesbians to find kinship, form connections through national meet ups , and organize to combat ageism as it intersects with lesbian identity.

Lesbian Herstory Archives

The Lesbian Herstory Archives is an archive of books, papers, periodicals, photographs, and more dedicated to preserving lesbian culture and herstory. Based out of Brooklyn, the archives are open to the public to browse lesbian texts and artwork of the past. The Lesbian Herstory Archives website allows those interested to browse some digitized videos and photographs and learn more about the history and mission of the archives and how to get involved.

Lesbians Who Tech

Lesbians Who Tech is an organization that works to both increase visibility of lesbians in the tech industry and encourage lesbians to step into this side of the STEM field. Their programming include summits and an Edie Windsor Coding Scholarship that helps LGBTQ women, non-binary, and trans techies kickstart their careers in technology.

Black Lesbian Literary Collective

The Black Lesbian Literary Collective is a non-profit organization (organized in North Carolina) founded by Lauren Cherelle and Stephanie Andrea Allen to bring together Black Lesbians that desire a nurturing and productive writing setting. Their efforts include a workshop, radio show, writing retreat, bi-annual literary journal, and review blog.

Archives of Lesbian Oral Testimony

Archives of Lesbian Oral Testimony or ALOT was founded in 2010 in order to preserve lesbian and other LGBT individuals’ personal experience and narratives. ALOT collects, digitizes, and hosts oral testimonies of lesbians and other LGBT women related to specific collections and projects. A great deal of these testimonies are available for free on their website.

Lesbian Connection

Lesbian Connection is a free worldwide forum of news, ideas, and information for, by, and about lesbians. Lesbian Connection has been publishing this bimonthly magazine since 1974 and mails out print issues. Those interested can subscribe here for free or the donation level of their choice.

Carolyn Gage

Carolyn Gage is a lesbian-feminist playwright, performer, director, and activist. The author of more than forty plays, musicals, and one-woman shows, she specializes in non-traditional roles for women, especially those reclaiming famous lesbians whose stories have been distorted or erased from history. Her website describes in more detail her works, performances, and accomplishments.
